Open Source Commitment
HonestHosting is built on open-source software, and we give back what we build. The tools we write for our own platform — for WordPress, Caddy, Nomad, and Vault — are published on GitHub under the MIT license.

HonestHosting is built on open-source software. Your site runs on WordPress and PHP, served by Caddy and FrankenPHP, on Linux, with its data on ZFS. None of that exists without people who wrote good software and gave it away.
So when we build something to fill a gap in our own platform, and it's useful beyond it, we publish it. It goes on GitHub under the MIT license, and it's the code our platform actually runs — not a cleaned-up copy maintained on the side.
There's a second reason, and it's the one in our name. A hosting company asks you to trust software you can't see. Publishing the parts that touch your site — the cache in front of it, the plugin that moves it here — means you don't have to take our word for how they work. You can read them.
This page covers the projects we've created and maintain. If you'd rather know how the platform itself works, read how our WordPress hosting works. If you've already decided and want to move a site, go to migrate to HonestHosting.
Built for our platform.
Released for yours.
Everything below is MIT licensed and lives in the honest-hosting organization on GitHub. It falls into three groups: WordPress sites, the Caddy web server, and storage for HashiCorp Nomad.
For WordPress
Caddy Sidekick is a server-side page cache for PHP applications, built with WordPress in mind. It stores compressed variants of each page, answers conditional requests, and handles purging through a WordPress mu-plugin it deploys itself. The HonestHosting Site Migrator is the plugin that moves a WordPress site here, using streamed, resumable exports that need no shell access on the old host.
For Caddy
Caddy Consul drives Caddy's HTTP and TCP routing straight from Consul's service catalog and health checks, and applies changes in memory without reloading Caddy's config. Caddy Vault Storage keeps Caddy's TLS certificates in HashiCorp Vault so a fleet of Caddy servers can share them, and CertMagic Vault Storage is the same backend for any Go program built on CertMagic.
For Nomad
The Nomad CSI Driver manages volumes for HashiCorp Nomad — create, snapshot, clone, and mount — on QNAP storage over iSCSI or on node-local ZFS. Underneath it, go-qnap is a Go library and command-line tool for the QNAP API, covering iSCSI targets and LUNs, pools and volumes, and snapshots.
Use it, fork it, improve it
Every project here is released under the MIT license. Use it in your own infrastructure, change it, or ship it inside something commercial. The only condition is that the license and copyright notice travel with the code.
Issues and pull requests are welcome on every repository. If something doesn't work in your setup, or you've built something the rest of us could use, that's the place to bring it.
Run it yourself, or let us run it
Everything on this page is free to run on your own servers. If you'd rather have it run for you, that's what HonestHosting is: every site in its own container, Sidekick in front of it, and real people on support. There's no contract and no introductory rate.
